最常見的動詞用法是計量,測量,例如︰

Please measure the size of the table.

請量度一下這張枱子的尺寸。

另一用法是指估量,衡量。

There is no way to measure the damage caused to the morale.

這沒有任何方法去估量對士氣造成的傷害。

Measure 用作名詞時可以解作措施。

The New York Times 美國紐約時報一則新聞報導美國和中國擴大貿易戰,其中提到︰

These countries are fighting back, drawing up retaliatory measures that ……

這些國家在反擊中,草擬一些報復性措施……

Measures 亦可以是判斷的標準, 例如︰

Record sales is not the only way to reflect the singer’s popularity.

唱片的銷量不一定就是能反映出歌唱者的受歡迎程度。

Phrasal verb︰measure up 解作符合到某一標準︰

She could never measure up to her patents’ expectations.

她永遠都無法符合到她父母期望的標準。

We need to take measures on that new policy.

我們要對那新的政策作出應對的步驟。
