Burst /bərst/

Verb or Noun

I hate it when balloons burst.

一般會答︰I am full. If I take some more food, I’ll burst.

英國廣播電台BBC報導颱風山竹在菲律賓肆虐時︰BBC correspondent Jonathan Head, in the main island of Luzon, saw 200 people who had taken shelter in a school being re-evacuated because a swollen river threatening to burst.

…… River threatened to burst.

Burst into tears/laughter

Burst in the room 是突然闖進房間,比起enter the room 感覺上也生動了很多。

A burst of applause / laughter.

當急不及待要做一件事情時,也可用上Burst這個詞,例如︰Brian was bursting to tell everyone the good news.

I am bursting to go to the loo!
