被趕下臺；罷免；廢黜；淘汰的意思

通常是指某人在不願意的情況下被趕下臺。最近美國又一要員Steve Bannon 被趕出白宮，他原來的位置是chief strategist. 所以美國The Telegraph 報導如下：

Steve Bannon flares ‘Trump presidency is over’ after being ousted as White House chief strategist.

很多時候oust 都會是用在被動的情況，oust 便會變成ousted.

例如： The president was ousted in a military coup in February 總統在二月的一次軍事政變中被趕下臺。

Last year’s winners have been ousted from the tournament. 去年的勝利者在聯赛杯中被淘汰出局。
