Account 這個詞非常普及，因為大部份人都擁有銀行户口，而銀行户口就是Bank Account 了。

I paid some money into my account this morning.

我今早往自己的銀行存入了一些錢。

Account在商業用途上也是客户的意思。

Do you have any account with us, Sir?

請問先生閣下是否在我們公司擁有户口？意思即是是否我們公司客户。

Account也可解作報導、描述、報告。

The police kept a detailed account of the suspect’s movements.

警方對那疑犯的舉動作出了詳細的記錄報告。

英國廣播電台BBC在一篇報導泰國少年足球隊員被困山洞的文章中，寫到︰

One initial account from the boys suggests they were caught off-guard by a flash flood.

意思就是那些少年們最初的陳述是由於他們被一股快速的洪流湧至，猝不及防而受困。

但是Account 這詞加上其他prepositons 卻很有意思

By all acoounts意思是根據大多數人這樣說……

By his own account 是根據他自己說……

On account of 是原因，例如︰He stops taking alcohol on account of poor health. 他停了飲酒原因是身體不好

Of no/little account 意思是不重要，無關痛癢

用作動詞時，Account 是用作被認為的意思。
